Busy Busy Busy
Where oh where has the time gone? I realize that I only have two weeks left of March and there are less than 60 days until Kyle and Quinlan tie the knot! I feel like this whole month so far has been one large blur. I am finally feeling recovered from last weekend so that is nice. This Saturday became an impromptu spring cleaning day. We started in the front yard and cleaned up all the old plants to make room for the new flowers that are starting to show and got our garden beds ready for planting. Next we moved out to our back patio where we ended up with at least 6 trash bags of old plant growth and weeds we picked up, along with one dead and squished rat. We also deconstructed the old wooden patio furniture which was rotten and falling apart. Lastly the back porch got a once over. Keith, Anne, and I worked on this from about 10:30 to 4:00 with only a short break for lunch. It was very tiring but I am very glad we did it. Pictures will be coming.

A long weekend away
Friday morning I woke up at 5am. By 6am I had grabbed my stuff and left for the weekend. A coworker and myself took five of your youth to the first annual International Young Environmentalist Youth Summit in Buford, GA. After an extremely long ride we arrived at the summit at 6:30. We spent the weekend learning about threats to our environment and the many problems that our consumer lifestyle has made for the planet. We also got to hear from young people who have already started their own nonprofit. It was really cool to see what youth can do.
Today we had to leave early in order to make it back to DC in time to return our rental van before the metro closed. I am very glad to be back and out of that van for good. I had a lot of fun with the youth and learned a lot about nonprofits and our environment. I also did not get much sleep and feel like I need a long weekend to rest. It will be very hard to get out of bed tomorrow (though I have been given the day off).

Snowboarding
I have been learning more and more how important/awesome it is to know the right people. This Saturday myself and the rest of the ladies here at the DC MVS house were able to spend the day snowboarding at a place in PA for free!! None of us other than Alisha had ever snowboarded before so it was quite the learning experience. After our break for lunch/snacks I decided that my body had suffered enough so I switched to skiing. And what do you know, my butt never again had to painfully come into contact with the snow covered slopes. We were able to do all this free of charge because Cara is dating Benjamin. Benjamin happens to have a family friend who manages the slopes we were at. It was really neat and we all had a wonderful time - even if we are all now feeling a bit worse for wear.
This was our first attempt down the bunny hill. As you can see - Cara (like all of us at that point) had already fallen a few times, and Anne is unsure of what she is doing.
Snacks!
This was after I had given up on snowboarding.
End of the day. Had a lot of fun!
